The journey of a customer who is doing their research and looking to get quotes for any home services work is one that typically entails comparing multiples businesses. The #1 thing on companies minds when they think of this, is “do I have enough reviews on Google, Yelp, etc”. We believe no matter what line business you are in, you should be sure to put a review procedure in place. But outside of reviews, what is the second most important thing that you can do to verify your legitimacy? Well, we believe it is showing customers that visit your website that you are working every day and providing real homeowners with quality projects. How do you do that?
Showcase Real Client Work
Shoppers are smarter than ever and they can spot a legitimate project photo vs. a stock photo easier than you may think. A picky shopper may move onto another website if they don’t feel like they can trust your work extremely quickly. It is because of this that we recommended that all of our clients take before and after pictures and plaster them all over their website, social media and google profiles. This way, no matter how someone finds you, they’ll see your high quality work instantly.
When it comes to adding photos onto your website, there are a number of ways you can do it.
#1. Homepage photos:
- Every website has a homepage and while this page isn’t the photo gallery of a site, someone should be able to get a taste of the business and what they do via text and photo integration. And please, don’t have stock photos that your competitor has next door on your homepage slider when you instantly land on your site.
#2. General photo gallery:
- This option is the easiest option and one that should be the bare minimum for you! At the end of every project, just snap a photo! You can take those photos and then create a long photo gallery page that shows the quality of your work. Having this page up on your website shows customers that are actually working with real homeowners.
#3. Before and after page:
- A step up from a general photo gallery page, is done by taking a picture from the same position before and after a project has been complete. Whether its new siding on a home or a junk removal job cleaned up it doesn’t matter. Having a before picture followed a by a picture after a job is complete, is much more powerful and allows for homeowners to resonate with their current situation.
#4. Case Study Page:
- Last but certainly not least is the BEST option that we believe everyone should go with! We recommend home service clients to build out case studies for as many projects as possible. A case study should entail the town a project was completed in, details about why the homeowner needed work done and finally details about what went into the project. Each case study should be built out with photos and should have its own page. These case study pages can be laid out in a similar format as a general photo gallery but instead of just showing individual pictures, you will be able to click into the project to learn more. The benefit of a case study page is that each case study project can actually show up on Google and drive in website traffic. That means it’s making people aware of your company and closing the deal all at the same time.
