Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, announced Friday October 4, 2013 that they released the Penguin 2.1 updated. This update has affected 1% of searches thus far. The Penguin algorithm was first announced in April 2012 to penalize websites deemed to be spamming its search results, in particular those doing so by buying links or obtaining them through link.
