How to add your wordpress.com to Google Webmasters Tools

Part 1

1. Go to https://google.com/webmasters/tools
2. Click “Add a site” in the top right corner
3. Enter your site name such as: example.wordpress.com
4. Choose the HTML Tag option for verifying ownership of you site
5. Copy the string of digits in quotations after the word content

Example

• If your html tag is: <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”MzA898RHENzQD198HGbitpf-DbGRTEom_a3uFSEZ5Dk” />
• You would only copy: MzA898RHENzQD198HGbitpf-DbGRTEom_a3uFSEZ5Dk

Part 2

1. Login to your wordpress.com blog
2. In the menu on the left side:
3. Hover over Tools and then select Available Tools
4. Paste the the string of digits into the webmasters tools box and click Save

Part 3

1. Go back to webmasters tools and click verify
2. Every wordpress.com blog has a built in sitemap located at: /sitemap.xml
3. You can submit your wordpress.com blog sitemap the same way as you would with any other website
